Polenta
It appears that the Polenta is a term of Latin origin ( "pollen") which means "flour" and a very antique type of food and it precedes the bread existence. The polenta that we know emerged in northern Italy following the discovery of America in 1492. It is a nutritious food based on corn, and few know but you can taste it sweet or salty. It is also gluten free and ideal for ceoliac (individual allergic to gluten) people.

Cassava
Cassava is the name by which it is known edible species and most widespread of the type Manihot, composed of several varieties of roots that are good for consumption.
The name given to the bush manihot is manioc. It is a shrub that may have originated in the more remote western Brazil (southwest Amazonia), and that before the arrival of Europeans to America, I would be widespread, as food crop, to Mesoamerica (Guatemala, Mexico). Spread around the world, is today Nigeria as its largest producer.
In Brazil has many synonyms used in different regions, such as aipi, cassava, Castle, cassava, sweet manioc, cassava, gentle, manioc, maniveira, sponge-poor, and varieties Aiapuá and caiabana, or names for only the root, as caarina. Cassava is another delicious and nutritive food that is gluten free.

Arrowroot
Arrowroot, or obedience plant (Maranta arundinacea), is a large perennial herb of genus Maranta found in rainforest habitats. Arrowroot is also the name of the edible starch from the rhizomes (rootstock) of West Indian arrowroot.
The plant is naturalized in Florida, but it is chiefly cultivated in the West Indies (Jamaica and St. Vincent), Australia, Southeast Asia, and South and East Africa. It used to be very popular in British cuisine, though Napoleon supposedly said the real reason for the British love of arrowroot was to support their colonies.
