Whizz kid cook Callum Hann is on the edge of going from kitchen hand to MasterChef in the space of a few months. Hann will face off against Adam Liaw in Sundays nights final of the TV series MasterChef after lawyer Claire Winton Burn fell at the penultimate hurdle last night. It has been an amazing rise for Hann, who was working as kitchen hand when he applied for the show. There is a groundswell of support for the 20-year-old South Australian with "Callum" a worldwide trending topic on Twitter last night. Hann revealed that he and Liaw were part of an unofficial gentleman's club that included Jonathan Daddia and Mathew Caldicott. "The four of us roomed together from the start and that is what we called our room and it stuck", Hann said. The gentlemanly conduct looks set to continue in the final, with Hann confessing Liaw had taken him under his wing.
Last nights episode drew a record 2.5 million viewers. It's the fifth time this week that the show has hit a season high. Despite the high-flying figures, media experts are divided about whether the show can better last year's grand finales 3.7 million viewers. Media buyer Steve Allen said he thought Sunday's episode could attract four million viewers. However TvTonight.com.au commentator David Knox said it would be a big ask to match the first season.
